Vallnord ski Andorra
Vallnord is a ski/snowboard resort in the Pyrenees mountains in the country of Andorra.
The domain of Vallnord is considered the first mountain park of the Pyrenees. With 89 kilometers of tracks invites you to enjoy the snow through various targets white sports which the mot practiced are ski and snowboarding, although their tracks are perfect for lovers of Freestyle.
Moreover, its strategic direction at the top of the Pyrenees is perfect for optimal conservation of the snow, which ensures high quality of it during all season.
The Vallnord ski area is divided in to two distinct sectors by the mountain of Pic d’Arcalis (2,776m), the highest mountain in the region.
PAL ARINSAL SECTOR
It is 5 km from Andorra la Vella.
Its minimum and maximum altitude is 1,550 m and 2560 m respectively.
It consists of 1,010 m drop, 63 km of tracks that are grouped into 7 green, 15 blue, 16 red and 4 black with a total of 42 tracks.
It has a total of 31 lifts. Has 1 Free-Style Area, 2 Free-Ride Area 1 Area and 1 Slalom Freestart Area. There are restaurants and cafes dotted around the station as well as 5 shops rent equipment at the slopes, slogans, ATMs, bus service linking the continuous 3 sectors: Arcalís, Arinsal and La Massana (PI), medical centres, snow gardens and baby club (for children).
For people who needs to learn skiing or snowboarding, there is a ski school where instructors can give private lessons or groups. There are also rental shops and repair.
The park has a capacity of 6,600 vehicles.
Besides offering all these services also are available as disposal activities snowmobiling, mushing, jump, snowshoeing, zip line, sledding, paintball ... and many more
ARCALÍS SECTOR
It is 22 km from Andorra la Vella.
Its minimum and maximum altitude is 1,940 m and 2625 m respectively.
It consists of 685 m drop, 28.5 km of tracks that are grouped into 6 green, 7 blue, 11 red and 2 black with a total of 26 tracks.
It has a total of 13 lifts. Snow Park has 1, 4 Free-Ride Area, 1 toboggan, 1 circuit for snowshoeing and 1 circuit for snowmobiles. There are also Baby Club.
There are restaurants and cafes located throughout the season and a snow garden, nursery, medical center, 1 equipment rental shop at the ski slopes, a ski locker, a baby club and continuous bus service between the upper and Arcalís sector lower, and liaison service sectors Arinsal and La Massana (PI).
For people who needs to learn sking or snowboarding, there is a ski school where instructors can give private lessons or groups. There are also rental shops and repair.
The park has a capacity of 1,500 vehicles.
In addition to all these services there are activities available like telemark, snowshoes, snowmobile outings (day / night), paragliding two-seater, heli, diving under ice, helicopter, ...
For people who can not ski much or starts to do so, advise Pal Arinsal sector as there is better access to green tracks and feature a greater number of monitors.
There is no ski lift connection between the two sectors and it’s necessary to take a ski bus or car to travel between the Pal - Arinsal and the Ordino - Arcalis sectors.
All the separate sectors within Vallnord contain green, blue, red and black rated runs as well as restaurants and ski schools.
By car it’s only 20 minutes but by the free Bus Neu Vallnord service this apparently short commute takes ages because you have to change in Massana. A typical journey is 90 minutes at the moment so hire a car if you want to try out the full extent of the Vallnord system and if travelling independently, stay a few days in each.
That said Vallnord, and Arinsal in particular, more than make up with charm for the inconvenience. This southwest corner of Andorra is without a doubt the prettier end of the Andorran ski market with best off-piste skiing between charming Andorran villages that still have their stone churches and rough-hewn bordas.
